Sep 1, 2009 · Remove the pinion nut using a torque wrench, note the torque needed to start the nut turning. Remove the yoke, replace the seal, install the new yoke, and tighten to 2 lbs more than the torque to remove the nut. Works every time as long as everything is clean. Reply Like.
Dec 2, 2008 · Once the proper bearing preload is established for this set of bearing it will not change except for the normal wear in. With proper preload the bearings will exhibit less rotational torque with some miles on them but this is normal. There will still be a "0" clearance. You can easily change the pinion without resetting the preload.
