The Skillet is a utility block used for cooking items, as well as a strong weapon.

The main purpose of a Skillet is cooking. The player can place raw food on a Skillet by using the food item on it. A Campfire, Stove, or Fire must be placed under the Skillet in order to cook items. Up to a whole stack of food items can be placed on a single Skillet, which cooks the items one at a time. Similar to Campfires, Skillets do not require any kind of fuel to cook. On a Skillet, foods produce small smoke particles, indicating they are being cooked. Food items take 6 seconds (100 ticks) to cook, compared to 10 seconds for furnaces or 5 seconds for smokers, but this time is decreased based on the level of fire aspect the Skillet has. A Skillet with fire aspect 2 cooks twice as fast as a regular Skillet. The Skillet is, therefore, more efficient than furnaces (taking less time per fire aspect level and using no fuel) for cooking, but must be watched so as to pick up the food and refill it once it is done. Once finished cooking, items pop off the Skillet . If the Skillet is extinguished while cooking food, it resets as if it had not been cooked at all. Food items can be placed on a Skillet if it does not have a Campfire, Stove, or Fire underneath it. If the Skillet is broken, the items will all drop.

The Skillet can also cook items while in the player's hand. Placing raw food in your off-hand, and holding the use button while standing on a hot block such as a Campfire, Stove or Magma Block, or standing adjacent to Fire starts the cooking process. One item will be moved onto the skillet, and will begin to cook.

Skillets also act as a weapon, dealing 8 melee damage. They can be enchanted with any sword enchantment.
