Greenfield et al. (2009) found that higher levels of spirituality were associated with higher levels of well-being (positive affect, purpose in life, positive relations with others, personal growth, self-acceptance, environmental mastery, autonomy), with some associations stronger among women than men.
Education (0 = on the human’s body and 1 = on the human’s mind and spirit) and gender (0 = males and 1 = females). The results indicated that both spirituality and health-related behaviors were directly related with psychological well-being (p < 0.001). Spirituality showed a positive relationship with health-related behaviors (p < 0.001).
