    • Scale of intensity

      • Each item is ranked by the test taker on a scale of intensity, from “Not at All” to “Extremely” and assigned a corresponding number value. A score higher than 19 indicates likelihood of a social anxiety disorder.

  2. Nov 2, 2020 · Managing your social anxiety can begin with recognizing your irrational or disproportionate fears and taking the time to understand why you feel that way. Taking a social anxiety test and researching your own symptoms can be a great step towards understanding your anxieties.

  3. Mar 30, 2014 · The assessment scale consists of 17 items covering the spectrum of social phobia such as fear, avoidance, and physiological factors. Each item is ranked by the test taker on a scale of intensity, from “Not at All” to “Extremely” and assigned a corresponding number value.

  4. The Social Avoidance and Distress Scale (SADS) is a 28 item true/false scale that measures measures aspects of social anxiety including distress, discomfort, fear and avoidance. Social avoidance is defined as the desire to escape or actually avoiding being with, talking to, or interacting with others for any reason. 5 minutes.

  5. Feb 18, 2016 · Abstract. To advance research into social anxiety disorder (SAD) and provide efficacious treatments for individuals with SAD, researchers and clinicians must have effective assessment instruments for identifying the disorder in terms of its diagnostic criteria, symptoms, and the presence of specific maintaining factors.

    Participants

Participants included 175 individuals (66.3% female) with an average age of 19.1 (SD= 3.6). Participants reported their ethnicity as Caucasian (71.4%), Latinx (9.7%), African American (7.4%), Asian American (3.4%), Middle Eastern (0.6%), and “Other” (7.4%).

    Procedure

All procedures were approved through the IRB. Participants were recruited through an online recruitment platform from a large Southwestern University and compensated with course credit. Informed consent was obtained from participants and then they completed demographics questions, the SAQ (; α = .92), Social Interaction Anxiety Scale-straight forward (SIAS-sf; [15, 41, 42], Social Phobia Scale (SPS ; α = .92), as well as the Anticipatory Social Behaviors Questionnaire (ASBQ ; α =...

    Analytic Approach

Zero-order correlations were calculated among the measures. Forced entry multiple regressions including SAQ, SIAS-sf, and SPS as predictors were used to determine the unique predictive ability of the SAQ on measures of anxiety (STAI-state, STAI-trait), depression (PHQ), and repetitive negative thinking (PSWQ-a, ASBQ) above and beyond the SIAS-sf and SPS. Multicollinearity, skew, and kurtosis indices were within acceptable bounds.

    Correlations

    Correlations are presented in Table 3. SAQ total scores were significantly correlated with SIAS-sf (r = .847,p < .001), SPS (r = .770, p < .001), STAI-state (r = .682,p < .001), STAI-trait (r = .746,p < .001), PHQ (r = .598, p < .001), PSWQ-a (r = .650,p < .001) and ASBQ (r = .779,p< .001).

    Regressions

Regression results are presented in Table 4. The overall regression model with STAI-state was significant, F(3,173) = 53.88, p < .001, which accounted for 48.7% of the variance. When controlling for all other predictors, only SAQ (p < .001) and SPS (p < .015) predicted STAI-state. Specifically, increased SAQ and SPS scores predicted increased STAI-state scores. The overall regression model with STAI-trait was significant, F(3,174) = 74.05, p < .001, which accounted for 56.5% of the variance....

To determine whether the SAQ holds construct validity and predictive utility compared to existing measures of social anxiety (e.g., SIAS, SPS), correlations and multiple regression analyses were used. Indeed, the SAQ showed extremely high concordance with existing measures of social anxiety. High correlations are expected; however, with such high c...

  6. Objective: The Social Anxiety Disorder Dimensional Scale (SAD-D) is a 10-item scale developed by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (Fifth Edition) Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum, Posttraumatic, and Dissociative Disorder work group to supplement current dichotomous approaches to assessment of Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD).
