- Finding Cheap Flights. The first thing we have to do to plan a backpacking trip is to look for the best deal on flights from our home country to our destination.
- Finding Great Accommodation. Now that we have a flight, your plan is already 50% done. All the other parts can often be improvised as we go, but a little more research to make the trip more enjoyable, like finding great accommodation beforehand, couldn't hurt either.
- Finding Travel Insurance. It is now more important than ever to have our trip insured. If you are looking for travel insurance providers, consider browsing through HeyMondo for regular trips or World Nomads for adventure trips and find the right travel insurance that fits the trip you are planning.
- Finding Transportation. Finding information on how to get around in other countries can be difficult sometimes, so what I often do is look for the schedule online on platforms like Busbud.com or 12Go.Asia first to get some ideas on the availability of the buses or trains I would be taking, and then book from there.
Also, when you have a route, or at least wishes where you want to go, check if you need visas for those countries and where can you get them, how much they last, how much they cost etc. (but don't plan to much in details, let the magic of travel do it's thing :D) Costs vary, depending on where you go, where you stay, what/where/how much you eat..
Oct 6, 2024 · Here is our around the world packing list, what we carried on our backs during 396 days of travel. The general rule of thumb for long term travel is to pack light and be prepared to wash clothing over and over again. The less you bring the less you have to lug around.
