To become an ISTA Certified Therapeutic Sound Practitioner, candidates must complete a minimum of 200 hours of sound healing education. While it is preferable for these hours to be completed within a single program, cumulative training hours from multiple institutions can be considered for approval if a Diploma or Certification was issued.
The recertification cycle is a five-year period. During this time, you must fulfill all requirements toward recertification to assure continued competence and credentialing in music therapy. The end of the cycle corresponds with the expiration date of your current MT-BC certificate.
Continuing education is essential for ensuring that methodologies in practice always align with the latest evidence-based guidelines. All continuing education must relate to the Board Certification Domains.
