Jan 14, 2013 · For example, a Skeleton has 10 hearts (20 health). This means it can take 19 damage without dying. Using the fall damage formula, we can see that the maximum height a Skeleton can fall from without dying is 22. An Enderman, on the other hand, has 20 hearts (40 health). That means an Enderman can survive a 42 block fall!

A fall from 22 blocks high will leave the zombie with half a heart in damage points, unless he falls in water (that's deep enough). Last edited by panzerman121 : Feb 1, 2012 Rollback Post to Revision RollBack
First of all, he's already figured out the math, so you're being redundant. Second of all, zombies have an armor point you have to get through, so there is no 'one hit kill' for zombies. I've even tried mounting a cactus inside the drop tube, but it didnt work. Make them drop 23 blocks, and hit the zombies twice, or use a sword.
May 12, 2024 · As you can see, it takes a fall of 22 blocks to bring a zombie down to their last half heart. And 23 blocks is the killer drop – sending them from full health to expired in one fatal plummet. So when engineering mob traps and defense chutes, be sure to build a 23 block vertical drop.
Zombies and skeletons can even spawn with boots enchanted with Feather Falling. As another example, some mob farms will use water streams that kick the mobs up as much as a half block before the fall, which can also affect the result. The only sure way is to use a damaging mechanism that is more controllable, like timed suffocation.
Jan 21, 2013 · Below the water block is exactly 19 ½ blocks of empty space (counting the sign) down to the fall-damage landing platform. Results: When the zombies hit the platform, a few still take 2 punches, but most of them take 1 punch to kill. I have successfully operated this mechanism in my survival world fed by two zombie spawners.
