Mar 13, 2015 · The precats aren't true catalytic converters, they're just particulates filters. If, for example like mine you upgrade an exhaust system with a bigger guage competition cat, you can delete the precats and it doesn't affect any legislation requiring that you keep a catalytic converter. The precats just make the underfloor cat last longer.

Hi, there are a total of 4 catalytic converters on your car, two up front near the exhaust manifold and two underneath the car. If one of the converters has plugged it can cause loss of power and sputtering. If your check engine light is on there may be fault codes stored that will point to the problem.
