May 29, 2019 · Francis Hastings, Lord Hastings (1560 – 17 December 1595) was the son of George Hastings, 4th Earl of Huntingdon and Dorothy Port. He married Sarah Harington, daughter of Sir James Harington and Lucy Sydney. They had five children: Catherine, who married Philip Stanhope, 1st Earl of Chesterfield, died 28 Aug 1636.

He seems to have gained some favour and was created a Knight of the Bath in 1533. His father died on 24 March 1544 and Francis succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Huntingdon. At the coronation of Edward VI of England on 20 February 1547, Huntingdon carried St. Edward's staff and took a prominent part in the jousting competition held in celebration of the event.
Hastings was the youngest daughter of Francis Hastings, 2nd Earl of Huntingdon and Katherine Pole and was born circa 1552. [1] [2] In her youth, her brother Henry Hastings negotiated with John de Vere, 16th Earl of Oxford for Mary or her sister Elizabeth to be betrothed to Edward de Vere, Lord Bulbeck with a dowry of 1,000 marks and a jointure of £1,000.
