Middle-aged widower Alec Callender is a solicitor, acting for twenty-something Zoe Angell in her divorce proceedings against her philandering husband Kevin. Not realising Alec's situation, Zoe accuses him of being hostile to people with marital problems and storms out.
May to December. Alec Callendar, a Pinner solicitor, meets and falls in love with Zoe Angel, a woman half his age: their relationship, as well as the ups and downs of Alec's office mates: his secretaries, Hilary and Miss Flood, and Alec's son, Jamie.
