Temporarily aligning the UCS icon with an existing line makes it easy to draw a line at a specific angle to another line. At the command prompt, enter UCS. Enter ob for Object and select the existing line. The UCS origin (0,0,0) is redefined. Click Home tab > Draw panel > Line.
Try drawing a vertical line anywhere on the screen. Use the "line" command. Notice you cannot draw a truely vertical line. You need to turn on ortho mode to restrict the movement of the lines to only horizontal and vertical lines. Press F8 or click on the ORTHO button below the command line window.
