A stunning series not afraid to challenge one’s mind with complex characters thats rather hard to decide on who to side with along with cunning, realistic exchanges amongst one another that defines character, ambitions, newfound alliances, hidden agendas, and love in it’s many ambiguous ways.

It’s a high drama sort of vibe, where nothing feels dry and measured, and everything’s kind of amped up and primed for high stakes and high emotions. I liked that a lot.

Compared to the bright, clear and refreshing colors of the recent Korean historical dramas, the color of Bloody Heart is vivid and the contrast is strong. Especially in the ending of episode 6, which marked the start of the main story, the boldness of coloring the screen red left a deep impression.
