William Smith, who plays Lucky Lonnie, a drag-strip racer in David Cronenberg's Fast Company, is a personification of country singer Waylon Jennings' voice: powerful and rich and funky and gentle. He doesn't hold Fast Company together - a vise the size of Paraguay couldn't hold Fast Company together - but his presence gives the movie an entirely undeserved distinction.

Former NHRA VP of Operations Graham Light described the summer of 1978 as a lot of fun. Gordie Bonin, the freewheeling Funny car driver who passed in November 2013, felt it was a balanced mix between fun and the absurd.
My copy of “Fast Company” is the aforementioned 2004 DVD from Blue Underground. The A/V quality is as good as it gets for the format and the disc holds up pretty well. That said I really should grab the existing Blu-ray as, by all accounts on review sites, it sports a wonderful Hi-Def image with improved sound.
