Superman: Unbound is a 2013 American animated superhero film based on the 2008 comic book story arc "Superman: Brainiac" by Geoff Johns. It was directed by James Tucker and scripted by Bob Goodman. It is the 17th film of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies.
I was honestly surprised how good it was. The action is great, Matt Bomer gives a surprisingly good Superman portrayal (not the best but still good), the message was nice, and overall just very enjoyable. It is a bit on the edgy side a few times, there's a small tint of gray in everything.
Out of all the animated standalone Superman movies that have come out the latest one Superman Unbound, is the one I found to be the most enjoyable. It is not perfect by any stretch but I still find it to be my favorite of the Superman animated movies. There are a few reasons for this.
The story is rich, but when translated into film it falls flat and is okay. The animation is just okay. Everything is just okay. It's such a sad feat when you see a film with potential to not reach what it could've been. Matt Bomer is a surprisingly good Superman, and his ideology continues in this version.

Action-packed, well-told, and with a definite heart, Superman Unbound is fun Superman tale that proves Warner Home Video`s track record on these DC Universe Animated Original Movie titles remains untouched and solid as ever.
