  4. What you have to realize is the Japanese context of the School. Unlike in America, in Japan you don't just automatically get into High Schools, you have to apply. In Japan High School IS a serious time of a person's education. Comparable more to a U.S. community College. If the story had been in America, yeah, College would have made more sense.
