The movie is a phenomenal piece of work. The stunts are good (even for the 80’s - who needs CGI am I right?), the violence and blood is really good and disturbing (who can forget Jennifer Jason Leigh’s scene) and it mostly takes place on the road and small gas stations (smaller atmosphere makes a movie a lot more intense).

Hitcher takes a great story and turns it into an unbelievable, frustrating mess. Murphy's Law is definitely the premise of this movie. It becomes so frustrating watching everything go wrong. And the movie is unbelievable to a ridiculous degree. The only good thing about this movie is Rutger Hauer who plays his part perfectly.
