I somehow liken Dev D to Trainspotting at times, not only because they deal with drugs and being stoned, but they always make me feel very relaxed and 'stoned' in someway. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the psychedelic colors in the cinematography. Both films rely quite heavily on good art direction as well.

Technically, Kashyap's 'Dev D.' is a visually delectable film against the psychedelic backdrop of sex, drugs and some Desi wedding band fare. Cinematographer Rajeev Ravi does a fine job of capturing the grittiness of Pahargunj whether it be the grimy squalor of Dev's hotel or Chanda's lair drenched in shocking pink.
