I think strictly as a game 2 is much better than the original. Smoother fighting mechanics, more options both lethal and non lethal, more variety of enemies that require unique approaches. Multiple playable characters (with voices and different power sets) to promote multiple playthroughs.

First game has better plot, DLCs have a really good plot, and they have this specific dark aesthetic (anybody who played knows). Hub is also much better in 1, more characters and interactions. Dishonored 2 is better in literally every other aspect.
