Eindhoven is the biggest city in the south of the Netherlands. It used to be a boring and cold city. After Philips left and a huge unemployment wave hit the region, the city picked itself up. The developments that stem from that are still going on today and in my opinion Eindhoven is picking up speed in terms of development.
What about Eindhoven. Since 1920, the former villages of Woensel, Tongelre, Stratum, Gestel, and Strijp are now Eindhoven city. Some of these neighborhoods still feel like small villages. We’ve got homes for rent throughout the whole city. All surrounded by some proper nature.

You'll still feel like you're in the countryside, even though it's only a fifteen-minute bike ride from the center. If the neighborhood itself isn't green enough for you, you can walk straight into Stratumse Heide (fields of heather).
