Preface: Monster Hunter World is one of my favorite games of the last 10 years. That said. EVERYTHING you said is completely fair. The way the game handles multiplayer is some of the worst multiplayer ive ever experienced in my life. Trying to do the story with another player who is not at the exact same level as you is an exercise is frustration.

The Hunter's Arsenal
There are fourteen different weapons at the hunter's disposal, each with its own unique characteristics and attacks. Many hunters acquire proficiency in multiple types, while others prefer to attain mastery of one.
Scoutflies
Monster tracks, such as footprints and gashes, dot each locale. Your Scoutflies will remember the scent of a monster and guide you to other nearby tracks. And as you gather more tracks, the Scoutflies will give you even more information.

Monster Hunter: World is an action role-playing game played from a third-person perspective.Similar to previous games in the series, the player takes the role of a player-created character who travels to the "New World", an unpopulated landmass filled with monsters, to join the Research Commission that studies the land from their central command base of Astera.
Aug 25, 2021 · The game is solo-able but you will probably bored af when hitting 100-200 hrs of solo hunt. The squad hunt in the other hand is pretty exciting, can adds random spices in the hunt and will prolong the game's replayability for you. And no, rather than a mmo this game is more like warframe or l4d's 4 player's squad coop multiplayer.

It is, primarily, an Action-RPG with strong 4-Player COOP features, but neither requires online persistence, nor is it a continuous/rolling development but a fixed iteration release.
