Aug 20, 2022 · Estimating the global coastal sediment mixed layer. Profiles of excess 210 Pb (210 Pb ex) in coastal shelf and estuarine sediments, devoid of sediment mixing, typically reflect exponential decay ...
Feb 10, 1977 · SEDIMENT mixing by benthic fauna greatly affects the detailed historical record of the environment preserved in the sediments1. Mechanical stirring is a major transport mechanism affecting fluxes ...

Dec 1, 2007 · However, they are not only of interest because they support the contention of Folk and Ward (1957) that sediment mixing is omnipresent in nature, but also because they demonstrate that individual populations involved in mixing processes are not necessarily log-normally distributed. In addition, they may but need not become size-sorted in the course of transport.

Jan 1, 2008 · Sediment mixing is omnipresent in nature (Folk and Ward, 1957). The computation of textural parameters from bi- or multimodal size distributions produces spurious results ( Flemming, 2007 ). For this author, meaningful results can only be obtained by the decomposition of such distributions into individual populations.

Aug 5, 2023 · Mixing and transport in estuarine and coastal systems is a fundamental driver for sediment dynamics and for the overall sediment budget as well. Yet, the quantification of the sediment budget through field measurements as well as numerical modelling challenging (Diaz et al., 2020). This special issue presents several detailed studies on ...
