My thinking was more along the lines of having a human pilot in the cockpit or a human driver behind the wheel, even if the automated system can actually do the job safer and more accurately. It is an interesting aspect of their future society that the show's writers could explore to good effect.
For a much better show about artificial intelligence, watch Akta Manniskor. It's not the same kind of show: it's more of a slow burn centered about the characters' relationships and artificial intelligence's impact on society but it's arguably one of the best Sci-Fi shows in years.
