Bio is a good program if you plan on going to med or nursing school. Otherwise you're better off majoring in something more specific and then getting a shit ton of certifications and probably go to graduate school while you're at it.
From my experiences, a bachelors in biology is an acceptable degree for many lab positions. I have a bachelors in biology and it was good enough to get me into microbiology within pharma/biotech which pays well.
