Despite a remarkable increase of research on mind-wandering 6, 21 as well as music-evoked emotions 24, 25 in recent years, it is unknown whether music with a sad and/or happy emotional tone modulates mind-wandering. In Experiment 1A, we tested the hypothesis that sad music, compared with happy music, is associated with stronger mind-wandering.
