- Shōgun Is A Rewarding Slow Burn. Shōgun takes its time with the series' story and characters. Despite its 10-episode frame, Shōgun isn't rushed and allows proper time for audiences to become completely engaged in the story and care for the series' characters.
- Violence Is Not Shōgun's Motive. The violence is diligently placed in the story. Shōgun is not without its use of bold acts of violence. However, the violence in Shōgun supports the deeper themes within the series, rather than overpowering them.

While that might sound off-putting, I found myself enraptured by the intrigue and slow-burn tension that makes “Shogun” a show in a category of its own.
