To fill an empty bucket with lava, use it on a lava source block or lava in a cauldron. The block is consumed in the process. Flowing lava does not fill a bucket. If there is a lava source above the pointed dripstone stalactite, there is a 15⁄256 (~5.9%) chance for it to completely fill an empty cauldron within 10 blocks under the tip with lava after a random tick. This lava can then be scooped with a bucket, making it a renewable resource.

As of writing, clay is worth around 15 coins each. But this price can fluctuate over time based on supply and demand. So clay minion profits rise and fall a bit depending on bazaar prices.

Since Block of Coal is stackable, that makes it a little better than Lava Bucket, because as Celta's answer states that Lava Bucket can cook 100 meat, Block of Coal doing 80. A stack of Block of Coal would be 80x64, doing simple math would tell you that (80x64) is bigger than 100.
Buckets of lava can now be used to fuel a furnace for 100 smelts, consuming the lava and the bucket. This is the highest number of smelts of any single item in the game. Oct 11, 2013 · Bucket. You wouldn't think something so innocuous as a bucket would be so high on the list, but it's actually a fairly useful tool. It can save you from an unexpected lava flow (especially if the bucket is full of water), and can be used to move your farm water to a better location. Not a necessity, but definitely nice to have.
