•Mui Mui and Love Heart, Nakoruru's teammates in KOF XIV, are completely removed from the story, and Nakoruru now acts on her own. •With the exception of Whip and Heidern, the DLC characters Ryuji Yamazaki, Vanessa, Rock Howard, Oswald, Najd & Blue Mary do not appear in the manga. However, special illustrations of the characters drawn by Kyoutarou Azuma appear in the Volume release. •Antonov Girl, a new character created for the manga, acts as the announcer.
Story
•During the fight between, Iori is forcibly transformed into Orochi Iori by Mature and Vice's power, something that does not happen in KOF XIV. •NESTS have bigger presence in A New Beginning. While NESTS do appear in KOF XIV, they have a minor role outside of revealing that they are back. •During Ángel's flashback, she is shown to be the only one to betray the NESTS at the climax of the KOF 2001 tournament. •During the battle with the Resurrected Souls, Nakoruru summons various characters from the Samurai Shodown series, •Geese is temporarily transformed into Nightmare Geese after absorbing Verse's power. While Nightmare Geese did appear in KOF XIV, it was an alternate costume for Geese.
Gameplay
•Additional rules are added to the tournament. A K.O. is decided when the referee judges a fighter is down and if they cannot get up within a 10 count. Getting knocked outside of the arena also counts forwards a K.O. •Kyo is seen using 108 Shiki Yami Barai and 524 Shiki Kamukura, despite not having those moves available to him.
