From a settlement of less than 300 persons in 1840, Janesville grew to 3,000 persons in 1850; 8,789 in 1870; 13,185 in 1900; and to 22,186 in 1925. During the 19th century, most of Janesville's population was comprised of natives of New York and New England states.

Sep 17, 2024 · Voter Registration forms and Absentee Applications to vote-by-mail are being sent to City of Janesville residents from the Voter Participation Center (VPC) and the Center for Voter Information (CVI). Residents receiving these mailings have noticed that they contain outdated information.
