Manhattan Beach is a city in southwestern Los Angeles County, California, United States, on the Pacific coast south of El Segundo, west of Hawthorne and Redondo Beach, and north of Hermosa Beach. As of the 2020 census, the population was 35,506.
The Manhattan Beach Pier is an excellent location to view sunset. Parking is just across, restaurants and stores for shopping are across the pier. It is the perfect location to look down the beach at surfers, strolling is safe and comfortable, gone there 2x during our visit in Culver City.

The city is known for its great surfing at El Porto Beach, a robust high-class dining scene, and its iconic pier.
Situated conveniently close to LAX in L.A.’s South Bay region, Manhattan Beach’s biggest draw is, of course, the beach. The sand and surf here are the real deal, and the scene can sometimes look straight out of an updated version of Baywatch.
