I would instead encourage you to get your computer science degree, work in one of the high demand fields (Cloud computing is huge now) and make your own games indie style.
Modern game design (at least for computer games) is a subdivision of computer science. It's best to get a BS in CS. I don't know anyone who would take a degree in "game design" seriously. Finally, you can't assume you'll find the job you want when you graduate.
Basically, it seems as if the Computer Science degree is easier to get but not as focused on the actual game making process whereas the Game Design degree is more focused on the aspects of design but gives more work is is less flexible when I’m looking for a job.
