Sep 23, 2015 · Don’t Pray for Patience. There’s a common saying among Christians: “Don’t pray for God to teach you patience–you won’t like what he’ll put you through to learn it!”. I don’t think much of that saying. It makes God look like a nasty schoolmaster, for one thing. It’s also the wrong reason.
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Nov 13, 2019 · Throughout 20 years of pastoral ministry, I’ve heard a number of people say something to this effect: “Don’t pray for patience. If you do, God will give you a difficult experience to teach you.”
Praying for patience simply means you are asking God to make His lessons more effective. Also, we should never fear God's watchcare over us. Yes, we should fear rebelling against Him.
