- Klondike. Klondike is the most popular version of Solitaire. So much so, that when used alone the term “Solitaire” usually refers to this game. Its origins are uncertain, but it is likely to have first appeared during the gold rush, in the 19th century, in the region of Klondike in Canada, from where it derives its name.
