    • Creeper (Hostile) A silent fellow with an explosive personality. The creeper is a mob that can sneak up on you when you least expect it and trigger a devastating attack by blowing itself up, leaving behind a terrible mess.
    • Zombie (Hostile) The groaning zombie is a hostile – and also very needy – fellow. What does it need? To bite players! Preferably: you! While it may be persistent with getting what it craves, the zombie is also quite slow and not very smart.
    • Cow (Passive) This beefy bovine is a common sight in many Minecraft biomes. It can be found mooing about in grassy areas, minding its own business in smaller herds.
    • Pig (Passive) If you ever hear a cute oinking sound near you, it can only mean one thing – there’s a pig in your bedroom! Or, if you’re lucky, a pig in your Minecraft world!
  3. Every mob in Java Edition. A mob (short for mobile, mobile entity, or mobile object) [1] is an AI-driven game entity. All mobs can be attacked and hurt (from falling, attacked by a player or another mob, falling into the void, hit by an arrow, etc), and have some form of voluntary movement.

While playing Minecraft, you’re going to run into many NPCs, or better known as mobs which are short for mobile. Most of the mobs in Minecraft serve a purpose that can range from transportation, materials, XP, or even companionship. Mobs can be broken up into four groups, and it’s all based on the likelihood of them attacking you. There are Passive Mobs that never attack, Neutral Mobs that only attack when provoked, Hostile Mobs that always attack, and Boss Mobs that are meant to be fought in the end game.

    Minecraft Mobs Guide

    •All Passive Mobs

Passive mobs in Minecraft are best known for their harmless nature and will not attack the player, even if they are provoked. Making for great companionship, food, or simply materials, passive mobs are essential for survival, especially if you plan on playing for a long time in your world. In this guide, we'll list every passive mob available and will detail everything from their known spawn locations, how to breed and tame them, what their purpose is, and so much more.

Below you'll find a slideshow and list of all Passive Mobs.

Unlike Passive Mobs in Minecraft, most Neutral Mobs will attack you if provoked. Even though these mobs can hurt and kill you, they do all provide something unique and useful. That could range from companionship, materials, and protection, to even transportation. In these Minecraft guides, we'll teach you everything you need to know about Neutral Mobs, with details such as their spawn locations, how to breed them, what they do, and so much more.

Below you'll find a slideshow and list of all Neutral Mobs.

Unlike all the Passive and Neutral mobs, Hostile Mobs will attack you the second they see you in Minecraft. So, it’s a good rule of thumb to always have a sword and a decent set of armor when you feel like you’re going to run into any of them. Just like any mob, they do have some useful items you can get from them.

Below you'll find a slideshow and list of all Hostile Mobs.

Boss Mobs are unique because they’re meant to be fought once a player is established in their world. Even though fighting Boss Mobs can be difficult, it’s well worth the trouble because of the loot and XP a player earns after fighting them.

Below you'll find a slideshow and list of all Boss Mobs.

The following Mobs are set to enter the game in the near future!
