- Half Cent. The half-cent was the first and smallest currency the United States Mint struck after introducing the Coinage Act in 1792. First produced in 1793, half cents were made from copper at the Philadelphia facility.

- Half Cents. The United States half cent is the smallest denomination ever minted by the United States. It was first produced in 1793 as authorized by the Coinage Act of 1792 on April 2, 1972.
- Large Cents. One cent coins and half cents were the first coins the United States mint struck for circulation in 1793. After that, large cents were produced yearly from 1793 until 1857, except for 1815.
- Small Cents. Beginning around 1800, the price of copper was rapidly rising. So it wouldn't be long before the value of the copper in a coin would be worth more than its face value.
- Two Cents Pieces. Congress passed a law on April 22, 1864, which changed the weight and composition of the one cent coin. Included in this law was a provision also to mint a two-cent piece.
