- The Dead Parrot Sketch. The most famous of Python’s countless routines, the Dead Parrot skit was voted the best alternative comedy sketch in a 2004 poll run by the Radio Times.

- Seduced Milkmen. This sketch is short and has no dialogue, but it left a huge impression on Python fans. Michael Palin plays a milkman who’s lured into a woman’s bedroom, only to find he’s trapped in there with other milkmen who have been lured into the room over the years, one of whom is now a skeleton.
- Marriage Guidance Counselor. In the “Marriage Guidance Counselor” sketch, Michael Palin and Carol Cleveland play a married couple with problems and Eric Idle plays their marriage counselor, who flirts with Cleveland’s character instead of giving them relationship advice.
- The Semaphore Version Of Wuthering Heights. Semaphore is the art of communicating with flags, and most Monty Python fans only know that because a sketch in the second season of Flying Circus presented “The Semaphore Version of Wuthering Heights,” in which Heathcliff and Cathy wave flags at each other across a moor.
- The Fish-Slapping Dance. Few Python sketches are this short and require no explanation. No matter where you’re from, or what your sense of humor is, “The Fish-Slapping Dance” is hilarious.
- Dead Parrot. Watch: The Dead Parrot Skit. The award for best Monty Python sketch goes to the most recognizably Monthy Python-esque: "Dead Parrot"! This skit centers on a pet owner, Mr. Praline (played by Cleese), who complains to the shopkeeper (played by Palin) about his parrot named Polly, who died.
- The Spanish Inquisition. Watch: The Spanish Inquisition Skit. Everybody say it: "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!" In this iconic sketch, three devious clergymen from the Inquisition appear when several characters specifically mention that "they didn't expect a Spanish Inquisition!"
- "The Lumberjack Song" Watch: "The Lumberjack Song" Michael Palin leads a chorus of Mounties and sings to his best girl about the glories of being a lumberjack.
