Jul 6, 2024 · Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Newcastle. The newest of Newcastle’s seven bridges is the sleek Gateshead Millennium Bridge which opened in 2001. The tilting bridge is for pedestrians and cyclists and crosses the Tyne right next to the BALTIC. The bridge stretches 126 metres across the River Tyne and takes 4.5 minutes to tilt.
