In the the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Dobby is wrinkled and is barefoot, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, he looks smooth and wears brown shoes on his feet (instead of the bunches of mismatched clothing he is described to wear in the novels).

- Dobby's Familiar Voice Actor. Harry Potter is known for its amazing cast, but one member that often gets overlooked is Dobby's voice actor. You can't see him directly on the screen, but Dobby's voice should be incredibly familiar.
- He Negotiated His Own Wages. Once Dobby became a free elf, he took a well-deserved break, but then he wanted to get back to work. Dobby loved being free and wasn't going to go back to being an unpaid slave.
- Dobby's Sock Collection. Dobby earned his freedom by getting a sock, and they always held a special place in his heart. During his time as a free elf, Dobby took up collecting socks, trying to find all the interesting pairs that he could.
- Leaving Socks For Dobby. Dobby is one of many characters to leave a lasting impact on the fans. His death was especially heartbreaking and one of the most impactful moments of the entire seven-part story.
Dobby. A house-elf who was utterly devoted to Harry Potter, Dobby put himself at great risk (and in serious physical pain) when he went out of his way to protect the young wizard from what Dobby knew would be significant danger.
- LOVED WEARING SOCKS. When Harry met Dobby, he was barefoot and wore an old pillowcase for clothes. Over time, Harry would learn that this was because House-elves had little to no self-worth and that they simply wore what was discarded.
- PENCIL-LIKE NOSE, BAT-LIKE EARS. Dobby and other House-elves have distinguishing appearances. These are elves, so they look similar to what people expect to see when they hear that word.
- THE FIRST AND LAST THING HE SAID WAS HARRY POTTER. There is a tragic thing to remember about Dobby. He lived as a loyal House-elf: first to his masters and then to his friends and loved ones.
- HURTS HIMSELF AS PUNISHMENT. Dobby had a very rough life and like all House-elves, he was dangerously loyal to those who he was in debt to. This gave Dobby a sad trait, where he would hurt himself if he did something that he perceived to be wrong.
Dobby visits Harry in the dormitory on Christmas morning. He stands on Harry's bed, so close they are almost nose to nose, until Harry awakes. Dobby jumps back when Harry yells at him, and stands anxiously next to Harry's bed, waiting for Harry to get up.
