Sep 24, 2024 · The miracles of Jesus revealed God’s glory (John 11:4, 40). The word for “glory” in John 1:14 means “a state of high honor.”. Those who witnessed Christ’s miracles—those who beheld His glory—saw and understood that God was worthy of the highest honor and praise (John 4:53; 9:38; 20:29). The suffering and death of Jesus also ...

- The Luminous Glory in The Old Testament refers to The Holy Spirit
When Jesus is glorified, he will share that same glorification with us. John clarifies Jesus’ words about living waters by explaining: “Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified” (John 7:39). The order here is important. Believers ...
Gregory rightly affirms that nothing existed before the foundation of the world except the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Gregory, “Be Subjected” §21). Yet Christ says that the glory existed before the world’s foundation (John 17:5). Glory cannot exist outside of God, or else it would be a second thing. God alone preexists and this characteristic sh...
While Gregory does not make this argument, I do think it strengthens his case to argue that the glory of God in the Old Testament can refer to the Holy Spirit. D. A. Carson explains, “Glory commonly refers to the manifestation of God’s character or person in a revelatory context” (John569). Since the triune God works inseparably, glorious manifesta...
Jul 22, 2014 · God’s glory is a big deal in Scripture, and that makes it a big deal to us here at Desiring God. Over the years here are just a few ways Pastor John has described the importance of God’s glory. He has said things like this: “The vindication of God’s glory is the ground of our salvation, and the exaltation of God’s glory is the goal of ...
Jan 20, 2023 · The glory of God is the beauty of His spirit. It is not an aesthetic beauty or a material beauty, but the beauty that emanates from His character, from all that He is. The glory of man—human dignity and honor—fades (1 Peter 1:24). But the glory of God, which is manifested in all His attributes together, never passes away.
Others understand the power of working miracles, by which Christ is said to have manifested his glory, John 2:11; and the effect of this power is called the glory of God, John 11:40. Others understand the preaching of the gospel, in which the ministration of the Spirit is glorious, 2 Corinthians 3:8 ; and the faithful ministers of the gospel are called the glory of Christ, 2 Corinthians 8:23 .
John 11:4. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby. John 1:14. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 9:3.

Nov 2, 2008 · Verse 14 says, “We have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”. It means that in Jesus Christ we can see the glory of God. And it means that the glory of God revealed in Jesus does not consume us in our sin. Instead, it is “full of grace and truth.”.
