Apr 26, 2010 · Some of Satan’s favorite lies are about heaven. Revelation 13:6 tells us the satanic beast ‘opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven.’. Paul warned us to be aware of the devil’s schemes and put on God’s armor to stand against them. Well, according to Revelation, one ...

Dec 22, 2020 · In response, Heaven focuses on the reality of a bodily resurrection and eternal life in the new heavens and new earth. Once you understand that as the driving point, the rest of this 500-plus page book unfolds neatly. Alcorn confronts Christo-platonism by showing the continuity between what humanity was called to do on this earth, and what we ...
Jan 1, 2004 · Randy Alcorn does forth a lot of interesting theories, but while there were a few I hadn't thought of before (like the idea of an intermediate Heaven where believers go between the time they die and the bodily resurrection to the New Earth), most I either felt were obvious (to me, at least), or I felt he drew broader conclusions than the Scripture allows.

The title sets the stage for the intentional equivocation of important Biblical terms. The reader soon discovers that the book is not about heaven but about the kingdom of God on earth. These two sentences suggest that heaven and the New Earth are identical, and that both refer to our eschatological destiny. This equivocation of terms is carried th...
Free Grace adherents will be happy to note that the author recognizes that our rule in the kingdom of God will be a reward for meritorious service in this life.
A major flaw with this book is its bewildering presentation of the gospel. Free Grace adherents will be troubled by Alcorn’s explanation of what is required for eschatological salvation. Proverbs 28:13, “He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy,” is cited as proof that “if we want to be forgive...
In spite of the equivocation of important terms and the flawed gospel, there is much to commend this book for pastoral purposes, if it is read carefully and critically. It helps us visualize life in the kingdom of God as a space-mass-time universe in which the conditions established during the Creation are restored. Our eternal destiny is not disco...
Sep 4, 2023 · This is the foundation of determining other things about Heaven like what we will do and how we will interact. While the book is primarily about Heaven, there is a chapter on Hell which I think is important because it’s part of the Gospel. It’s why we worship Christ and why Jesus died on the cross. Hell is what we are saved from.
