The University of California operates the largest academic library system in the world. It manages more than 40.8 million print volumes [1] in 100 libraries on ten campuses. The purpose of these libraries is to assist research and instruction on the University of California campuses.
As of 2024, Berkeley's library system holds materials in more than 400 languages and includes more than 14 million volumes. [1] The libraries together cover over 12 acres (49,000 m 2) of land and compose one of the largest library complexes in the world. [2]
With a motto of “The Future is Shared,” the infrastructure is in place to optimize functionality and introduce new UC Library Search features for years to come. “One truly transformative outcome is having access to robust analytics about the use of UC collections,” said Grappone.
