And can see offers at ebay - usually at ridiculously high prices. Problem with them is age. 1.4 (HD , high density) drives can work well with Atari ST, and they were used in TT, Mega STE, Falcon by factory.

Oct 8, 2005 · Here's a list and some info regarding fitting a 1.44mb drive in any Atari... All ST/STE/TT/F030 use the same floppyinterface. Although only Mega STE/TT/F030 is able to handle HD floppys (from factory), all of them can use PC-floppys as replacement floppy when your old one dies. You can connect any pc floppy to Mega STE/TT/F030.

May 22, 2008 · Then we have couple ways: 1: swap lines 10 and 12 on floppy cable. 2: Shortcut pins 10 and 12 on floppy drive connector solder side. Good only when has 1 drive total. 3: Shortcut on small board on external ST floppy case - or make swap there. With this simple mod, in 99% cases drive will work with ST.
Jan 4, 2024 · I do have an external case with the cable and power supply. Used the drive from this with another project (kicking myself now). If I get the Mega ST working with the one drive I've thought about bringing a cable from the external drive socket on the back to the front of the case and putting in a drive B.
Nov 5, 2024 · Installing a Gotek floppy drive in Atari-ST. This weekend I fitted one of my Atari's (Atari-STe 1040 with 2 mb) with a gotek drive with Flashfloppy. I now know what needs to be done to install the Gotek Floppydrive without any problems. The models in the Atari-ST family have a standard floppy drive connector (Shugart 34 pins).

Apr 7, 2020 · For the end: Atari ST can work with other filesystems too - but not with in ROM TOS filesystem driver (regular TOS versions). And there are drivers for it. Or different OS - Mint for instance. It is possible to write program to handle FAT32 . Not sure that it will be useful.
