The Calamity Mod adds many new tracks or music to the game, implemented through two add-on mods, known as Calamity Mod Music and Vanilla Calamity Mod Music, the former of which is mandatory.
Tried all sorts of things like quitting and restarting, unsub/resub to the mod on Steam Workshop to no avail. Then I noticed I had "Fargo's Music Mod" enabled. Once I disabled it, I was able to enable the Calamity music. Hope this helps someone else save 45 minutes of their life... :-)
Playing Calamity without music is like eating cereals without milk. It works, you can do that, but why would you? The music mod isn't affecting your performance anymore, it should all work out now.
The "calamity mod (no music)" as the name suggests has no music, so it is intended to use "calamity mod music" to add the music, if you want it.
Calamity's music tracks can only be heard in-game if the music add-on mod, known as Calamity Mod Music, is installed and enabled. This mod can be downloaded from the official Calamity Mod Discord server, the front page of this wiki, or alternatively installed through the tModLoader Mod Browser.
Unfortunately manually loading the mod from the official website will not get the mod recognized as originating from the browser, prompting tModLoader to replace the mod with an incomplete broken file. However, a friend of mind found us a very similar working solution.

The Calamity Music Mod is a small Terraria mod which adds Calamity's soundtrack to the game, along with music boxes for each song on the soundtrack. It is intended to be used alongside the Calamity Mod, but can be used alone. The mod must be installed using tModLoader.
