- PRESTO cards can be shared, but can only be used by one person to travel at a time. When using someone else’s card, be aware of the fare settings they may have, i.e. senior or youth. You can’t use a card with a fare type for which you are not eligible.

Sep 28, 2022 · What is a PRESTO Card Used For? The PRESTO card is a digital fare payment method used for public transportation in Toronto, Ontario and the surrounding areas. It allows riders to pay their fare quickly and efficiently with just one tap. The card can be used on all transit systems including buses, streetcars, subways, and trains.
Your PRESTO card will be cancelled and your TTC Monthly Pass will be transferred to your new PRESTO card. You will be required to purchase another card for $6. It may take up to 24 hours for your card and monthly pass to be cancelled and transferred to the new card.

Within the TTC network, and you're not a senior citizen, a youth nor you use a pass: no reason. If you take benefit from special fares, then yes. If you connect between different transits: the other transits are cheaper via Presto (no free transfers between TTC and the others).
