"I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday", sometimes written as "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day", is a Christmas song recorded by British glam rock band Wizzard. It was first released in December 1973 and, as with most Wizzard songs, was written and produced by the band's frontman Roy Wood —formerly of The Move and a founding member of Electric Light Orchestra .
Dec 20, 2023 · In 2000, Wood re-recorded the song for Mike Batt's Dramatico Records, as part of a medley with Batt's song 'Wombling Merry Christmas' by The Wombles. The novelty mashup was released as 'I Wish It Could Be a Wombling Christmas Everyday' and reached number 22.

This UK Christmas classic is from Wizzard, an offshoot of ELO led by Roy Wood, who wrote the song. Wizzard was active from 1972-1975 and released two albums. The saxophone player in the band, Mike Burney, sparked the song. He was very excited to be a member of Wizzard and would tell Wood, "being in this band, it's like Christmas every day."

It was taped in late summer – a time when Christmas wouldn’t normally be on the agenda. However, Wizzard frontman Roy Wood began thinking about the festivities when he was inspired by an off-the-cuff remark made by one of his bandmates.
