The Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (Juice, formerly JUICE [3]) is an interplanetary spacecraft on its way to orbit and study three icy moons of Jupiter: Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa.
Apr 14, 2023 · ESA’s Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer, Juice, will make detailed observations of the giant gas planet and its three large ocean-bearing moons – Ganymede, Callisto and Europa – with a suite of remote sensing, geophysical and in situ instruments.
Juice will be the first spacecraft to ever orbit a moon in the outer Solar System (Ganymede). The four largest of Jupiter’s moons are known as the ‘Galilean moons’; of these, three are thought to have oceans of liquid water beneath their icy crusts (Ganymede, Europa and Callisto).
JUICE - JUpiter ICy moons Explorer - is the first large-class mission in ESA's Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 programme.
