Varney Speed Lines was the fourth airline created by its founder; the first had been purchased by Boeing's United Aircraft, and the other two had failed.

This was a merger of BOEING AIR TRANSPORT , PACIFIC AIR TRANSPORT , NATIONAL AIR TRANSPORT and VARNEY AIR LINES. Acquired CAPTAL AIRLINES in 1961.
