- Pie Charts: Pie charts represent parts of a whole. They are useful when analyzing proportions or percentages, such as the composition of different gases in the atmosphere. Pie graphs are the least common and almost never show up on the AP Biology exam. However, it's still good to know how they work, just in case!

There are all kinds of charts and graphs, some are easy to understand while others can be pretty tricky. There are many different types because each one has a fairly specific use.
Pie charts are used to compare data, but cannot be used to see how a manipulated variable affects a responding variable. Pie charts do not show change with respect to another variable, such as time. Click the card to flip 👆
