Health education, rooted in the origins of modern nursing, has become one of nursing’s major roles. Many of the early definitions of nursing emphasized the role of nurses in helping patients achieve self-care by having the information and skills necessary to restore health, maintain health, prevent disease, or move to a higher level of wellness.
