John is instructed to eat the little scroll that happens to be sweet in his mouth, but bitter in his stomach, and to prophesy. Revelation can be divided into seven parts. Chapters 1-3 introduces John ’s vision. Chapters 4-5, 6-8a, 8b-11, 12-16, and 17-20 focus on various visions of John. And chapters 21-22 are a concluding vision of the new heavens and new Earth.
Revelation is traditionally attributed to the apostle John, who also wrote a Gospel and three New Testament letters. He was a leader in the early church, and he probably wrote his documents after most of the other New Testament books were already written.
