    The Battle Stadium in Pokemon Sword and Shield allows players to connect to the internet to battle against each other. Players need to have an internet connection and a Nintendo Switch Online membership to use the Battle Stadium. It features different options for players to compete in.

    Ranked Battles allow players to compete in battles and earn rankings. You'll choose a team of Pokemon you caught in the game to compete with, though some Legendary or Mythical Pokemon may not be eligible. Ranked Battles match you against other opponents with a similar rank to yours. Battle Stadium also allows you to receive items by meeting certain criteria (like battling multiple times in a row). Dynamaxing is allowed in the Battle Stadium and functions with the same rules as it does in the single-player campaign.

    You'll start on the Beginner Tier, but as you earn more victories, you'll begin accumulating points to raise your ranking. Master Ball Tier is the highest-ranking where only the most experienced trainers will compete. By using the Pokemon HOME app on a smartphone, you'll be able to see your ranking and compare it against other players. Ranked Battles occur in seasons. At the end of each season, your rank will decrease a certain amount, making all players have to fight their way to the top once again.

    Casual Battles allow players to battle against each other without worrying about their rankings. You’ll be able to use Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in Casual Battles! Players can take part in the Single Battle and Double Battle formats. You can choose from these two battle formats for Ranked Battles and Casual Battles.

    The Battle Stadium allows players to join or create their own competitions. There are two types of competions: Official and Friendly.

    •Official Competitions - These are special battles featuring specific rules and restrictions.
